As I sat sipping my morning pot of tea today I began wondering if other tea drinkers
pick a certain cup or teapot for the particular tea they are drinking.
I thought about sharing the wonderful Tiekuanyin from Muzha, Taiwan that I was drinking.
Then I looked at how I had chosen to serve it with an English teapot, a cozy
made by my daughter, and a glass handleless cup sitting on a metal leaf.
Had I chosen the right accoutrements to serve this special tea?
Tea enthusiast may say, NO! I should have used the appropriate gaiwan or gong-fu style
Asian small teapot and cups.
For me this works for my morning tea.
What is important is the enjoyment of a special tea no matter how it is served.
After all, isn't it fun to just shake up the traditions a bit?

I think the best tea tool to use is the one that calls to you in the moment. LOVE that cozy!
I think you're right about the enjoyment of the tea being the most important thing. My morning pot of tea is usually served in a Polish pottery teapot, with a Longaberger cozy and a favorite Florida mug. ;-)
Never follow rules! That is the first rule of non rule followers. Marilyn you make your own path, I can see that. Besides I think being in the moment and sipping a tea is really what it is all about. And it is still cold out there, we need to be inside by the fire sipping a hot beverage still.
I find the older I get the less I follow the rules :) tea in the morning is a big mug and a strong brew to kick start me. I have seen you daughter's handiwork a couple of times now in your photos. Does she have a web site where I can see and buy a knit tea cozy?
This image is BEAUTIFUL, Marilyn--it is tea served up with care and love, and that's the best way to serve it! :o) I especially love the--metal leaf, a wonderful extra touch. And being a knitter, must say I admire the tea cozy too. I'm actually very picky about what I drink my tea from, and it has to be thin, bone china cup--that closer contact with the tea makes all the difference. I love my English Brown Betty teapot best. It's not the prettiest I have, but for function, the best so I reach for it most. I used to have a ton of tea things, but downsized greatly when I moved abroad. My collection is really small now, but I appreciate and use every piece now--nothing gets stuck in a cupboard forgotten or used only once in while. And I like what Kyr said, about just being in the moment with that tea--that really is the best! :o) Happy Weekend, my friend ((HUGS))
Take "the road less traveled" and you will have the greatest adventures. Make it a new tradition for YOU!
I think it is perfect..wish I was there to share it with you...love the little glass. xoxoox hugs
Ah, the pleasures of tea!
What is important is that you take time to delight in whatever you consider right and beautiful!
I see Tracy from Norway is a fan of you blog too!
I really like the close-up of the tea cozy your daughter made for you. It is charming and looks so inviting! And your tea cup --- just beautiful. I enjoy a different teacup each day --- from tea mug to porcelain. I have some special ones that I save for when guests are here, and I've discovered that when certain repeat guests visit, that I enjoy serving them from teacups that they've given to me as gifts.
i LOVE the tea cozy that your daughter knit for you!!
Love-love-love that pretty tea cozy. That yarn colorway is divine! And I agree fully with selecting the accoutrements you like best for enjoying your tea, whether or not the purists would approve!
