The Sandy River in Oregon probably has other sand bars,
but the one located at Oxbow Park has a special tradition.
Each winter the sand bar is reconstructed and wiped clean.
Then in the Spring the "Rock Lady" comes again and begins
constructing rock cairns.
Occasionally she also likes to skinny dip in the river to refresh herself
for the journey of building these very special formations.
Those that visit here regularly know her and come just to see
her creativity.
Is this one a mama, papa, and child?
What do you like to do to just play?
I hope you have plans to play this weekend.
Sending hugs and great playful JOY.

What a fun post! Now I'm in the mood to "play" this weekend.
Seeing this makes me feel so happy. My last couple of years at work, one of our students made rock cairns regularly, right outside my office. For a long time the creator was a mystery but then I caught him at it one day and had a chance to tell him how much I liked the cairns. He kept building right up until he graduated. I hope he is still building elsewhere.
How fun! I really must stop by sometime and take a look! It's interesting to see where rock cairns show up. One of my favorite places to find them was in a hike at Cochise Stronghold, Arizona. They were greeting hikers along the trail (very large, desert rocks!). Loved the post, Marilyn!
Really like that last one. I have a new kitten to play with ... she's full of energy.
What beautiful scenery! I love the creativity with the rocks Marily. I don't play enough though I do enjoy my crafting. Love the post! Rock concert! You're to funny!
Are you serious? Surely this isn't the work of ONE woman! Skinny dipping too.....could she be a mermaid perhaps?
Love the family in the last photo.
Playing this weekend will consist of some garden titivating if the sun comes out, and going out to dinner tonight with daughter and SIL. Playing on the laptop will be more like hard work - have to move many pics to an external drive and do some major cleanup.
Enjoy your weekend dear.

Love the cairns... and have seen them in RI during our travels there, but not to the extent as your rock lady! Wow! The next to last picture looks like a wedding to me!
Wow...she is determined. xox
Absolutely amazing photos!
My "play-time" was going to tea with three good friends Saturday afternoon. It was an hour and a half drive, so we had good conversation and laughs there and back, as well as during our wonderful tea time.
oh yes, I love to play.
We saw stones like this up in Yosemite, near Mirror Lake :-)
LOVE those rock cairns! I just love that kind of play with nature and creativity... And just a beautiful place there! We communed with rocks this weekend ourselves. :o) Happy Day, Marilyn ((HUGS))
