The Heart of an Artist

Sunday my husband and I had the honor and pleasure of being invited to a special party.
Someone I think is very special had inherited her family farm house and property.
After much cleaning, gardening, and decorating she wanted a party to
reclaim the spirit of the place.
It was amazing to see about 200 people dance, eat, and fellowship together
with great JOY and celebration.

What touched me and gave me great delight was the opportunity to visit her father's
art studio.  The top picture is just a glimpse.
When I stepped into this room it was stepping back in time and feeling
the heart of this man as he painted here.
It was the same feeling I had when I stepped into the Shakespeare and Company Bookstore in Paris.
You can just feel the creative spirit permeating the place.
I had seen prints of the painting in the second photo, but to see the original just sitting there sang to my heart.
Have you ever stepped into a room and just felt the presence of someone very special?

Sometimes the life and spirit of one person is so strong that their essence lives on. It permeates the place once inhabited by the physical body. Clearly, the father of your friend falls into such a place and the love she brought to the restoration cemented it.

What absolute joy! The painting reminds me of one in my bathroom done by a neighbor. The colors and children are enchanting. And yes, I too, have had that feeling -- and it's so wonderful to experience!

That's how I felt after Dad died and I'd go into the green house he built, or into his ham radio room in the basement. His presence was so strong and welcome.

Oh, this place it wonderful... you can really feel is creative presence! I love places like that, and have had the joy to have encountered places where, thought the person that dwelled there was no longer living in physical form, but that their spirit was definitely still there! :o) Happy Day, Marilyn ((HUGS))

I felt that "creative presence" when I visited Ernest Hemingway's home in Key West. (And while he'd have no doubt preferred I went and knocked back a few drinks in his honor, I just went to a local hangout and ate some Key Lime Pie instead!)

Marilyn, I didn't even need to step inside that studio with you, just seeing the painting here reminded me of my childhood on the beach in England, sitting at the tideline with my friend Carol! What a beautiful little painting it is!

How special to inherit such a wonderful place - I'm sure you enjoyed the visit so much.

Hugs - Mary
