Each year our realtor has a free Christmas tree day
where for a few hours we can come and cut down a tree.
This year we decided it was getting too much for us to cut a tree;
so we weren't going to attend.
Then we were told there were pre-cut trees we could choose;
so off we went.
We love going to the farm and seeing what is happening.
This year was no different.
It was great fun to have a bowl of hot chili and some hot cocoa too
plus see familiar faces.
That's our realtor, Kama, in the red cowgirl hat.
We love getting to see her and one day will use her services again.
Then it was time to find the right tree.
You might not know this about me, but I am rather picking on the type of tree I choose.
There just wasn't a tree I liked.
So we picked a little taller than needed tree and then cut it to fit.
I sort of wish now I got down on my hands and knees and tried one more time to cut.
Well this is the tree all decorated.
It is a bit strange in shape for sure;
but it is what it is and we will live with it.
I guess this is the year of a tree only a parent could love.
This in a way is good for my very organized soul,
one that teaches me I need to loosen up a bit.
So I sing "Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree"
loud and clear.
More pictures of my home to come next week,
but just couldn't resist showing you "the tree".

I love your tree (but I understand being picky!) -- it's pretty and filled with such lovely things. It sounds like a terrific day. We have tree farms here but usually get Rick's from the Y lot.
Your tree is so lovely. Very pretty.
What FUN! And I love your realtor's santa-esque cowgirl hat! Your tree is wonderful! It has a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree look to it... and I have a bit weakness for Charlie Brown trees. Glad you were able to get a little tree and now have to cut it down yourselves--big job that! Happy days as you bask in the sparkle/glow... ((HUGS))
The tree is lovely and you have made it look so pretty.
It's nice to be able to choose a Christmas tree, bring it home and decorate it. I bought a fresh tree a few years back, but could only afford a small one and even though it had roots it died when we planted it in the garden after Christmas. I'm back to setting up an artificial Christmas tree. It actually looks good, but there's nothing like the smell of pine from a real tree. I'm not using so many decorations this year, only very special ones that are stored in a cupboard so that my husband doesn't have to climb a ladder and go into the loft in the roof.
You have decked out in style. Perhaps this year's tree will bring a smile or a laugh at times when you need it most. I like it!

Those branches remind me of old-fashioned feather trees, and now that you have decorated it with love, I find it simply beautiful!
