A Word for the Week

Winter in the woods.

CLEARING
Do not try to save
the whole world,
or anything grandiose.
Instead, create a clearing
in the dense forest of your life,
and wait there patiently,
Until the song that is your life
falls into your own cupped hands
and you recognize it and greet it.
Only then will you know
how to give yourself
to this world
so worth the rescue.

by Martha Postlewaite

A friend sent me this poem last week. I thought you would enjoy it too.

What came to mind after thinking on it for awhile, with the waiting joy comes in the morning. March 1st always brings a smile to my face because winter and the darkness is leaving and there is joy in the little things around us. My crocus and daffodil are beginning to bloom and they make for a happy heart.

When I think of the clearing in the forest I realize that is where the sun comes in. With the sun or the light I shine.

What makes you shine on this first day of March?

A clearing in the dense forest of your life. I adore that.

You always share the most heartwarming poems, words, quotes, and pictures, Marilyn. I love this one, and it really spoke to me. Then, I saw the gorgeous Purple flowers! Oh, Purple is such a majestic color, isn't it?

What makes me shine on this first day of March?........You do, Marilyn. : )

I was 'shining' today when granddaughter Jasmin came to tea! I made a lemon cake to serve with Empress Grey tea, we chatted and caught up on news, she help us with a few computer/iPhone questions. . . . .it was a bright March 1st in the house while the drizzle fell outside, again!
Love your crocus - always a beauty in the early pre-spring garden.

What a beautiful and yet thought provoking poem. What makes me shine...getting outside for a long awaited walk along the coastline.

Those words of Martha Postlewaite... sublime! I don't think I came across this before--stunning! Thank you sooo much for the gift of these works, Marilyn! March is a very fickle friend here--one day a hint of spring, the next winter is back with a cold snap. (Hopefully NO more snow!)
These days I'm clearing for sure... clearing and house decluttering... so mostly shining with sweat! haha... ;) ((HUGS))
