Angels Surround Us

Yesterday I had been "requested" to come to the court house for jury duty.
Sitting there quietly all morning waiting to be called I started thinking about the angels
around us.  At lunch time we were dismissed as most of the trials were settled out of court.
Rarely do I get downtown; so I decided to finish up a bit of Christmas shopping
and enjoy the hustle, bustle of city life.
As I walked along the side walk and saw people in need,
I was reminded of the angels around us.
Nearby a man handed a woman a card with a blessing on it and
with a request for help.  The woman didn't have much, but gave what she had in her pocket.
It reminded me of those that help others all year long in soup kitchens, or donating
to special causes, or praying, or just sitting with someone that needs a hand held.
There are angels all around us.
Take time to notice and send them a note of thanks, plus
find your opportunities to be angels to those you are around.

And because I usually write about tea on Fridays,
maybe someone just needs a listening ear and a cup of tea
to warm their soul.

Take time to notice what you notice and be present.

PS: The quilt in the previous post is a very old
family quilt, which I am enjoying above my fireplace for the holiday season.  It is too fragile to use, but just to be enjoyed.

Since you are sitting here today, I'm guessing that your dismissal yesterday was permanent. When I worked, I hated being called to jury duty but fortunately, I was never selected. Now that I am retired I actually look forward to seeing that piece of paper in the mail. I wouldn't mind serving at all.

Daddy lifting up his little angel is so sweet. What a lucky image to find.

We never know when we are in the presence of an angel - just when we least expect it!

Such a loving post, Marilyn! I was showing a friend from England around last weekend, and we passed someone asking for help. My friend took out all change in his pocket, including several dollar coins from change from the Max, and gave it all to this person. I was touched...need transcends all cultural boundaries and becomes a truly human matter. Much love to you this season!

Very nice Marilyn. Sometimes it takes a little nudging from others to be reminded....we are all connected. When we are kind and thoughtful to others....we receive that same energy in return...that's why you get the warm and fuzzy feeling, when you share.

i love all of your st. nicholases, include plain brown wrapper, who is special for it!

angels, yes, always there are angels. and people in need. and it is good for us to remember every day but particularly this time of year, when we're in danger of being sucked into commercialism and hustle and bustle, that we can be angels too.

random acts of kindness are acts of angels...

have a lovely peaceful holiday!!

So beautiful, Marilyn. I try to practice Random Acts of Santa -- but these people, I suspect, are angels always.

There's a wonderful quote I can't remember about "angels unaware." So true.
