What is Christmas?
It is tenderness for the past,
courage for the present,
hope for the future.
It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow
with blessings rich and eternal
and that every path may lead to peace.
Quote found framed on the wall at Deepwood Estate,
author unknown.
Friday my husband took me out for a special Christmas lunch with tea to the
Deepwood Estates in Salem, Oregon.
We arrived early and enjoyed time in the garden,
then ventured inside this beautiful home where we were served a delightful meal
of pork tenderloin with a honey mustard vinaigrette, roasted orzo and peas,
puff pastry mushroom tarts, roasted vegetables with Swiss cheese frittata,
fresh fruit salad with coconut rum sauce, and a dessert buffet.
What a lovely treat and special "out of the ordinary" day.
I hope each one of you has opportunity for an "out of the ordinary" day very soon.

what a beautiful place, and a beautiful feast!
The quote is a beautiful tribute to the magic of Christmas:
"It is tenderness for the past,
courage for the present,
hope for the future..."
Merry!
How lovely this must have been! I'm sure you enjoyed it immensely. Merry Christmas! :)
Dear, dear friend, I'm so behind with everything, including my blog friends' news! Hope all is well with you, sounds like this was a great day out in every way.
I loved everything I experienced in Thailand and Vietnam..............I'VE LOTS MORE TO SHARE ON THE BLOG ONCE I GET SOME FREE TIME TO POST ABOUT IT ALL! Chiang Mai was my favorite place - I want to go back with Bob and may try for this time next year, if I can find the funds!
I've done nothing for Christmas yet - think it will be a lean one here. We're taking off for a couple of days in Virginia - historic Williamsburg and Jamestown - so I think decorating and baking are out of the question.
Happiest of holidays to you and your family - may the coming year bring good health, happiness and prosperity........lots more world out there to see!
Fondly, Mary
Thank you for sharing one of my favorite places. I haven't been there this season but I'm hoping to go sometime this week. You captured it well, my friend!

It looks like a beautiful place to have visited on a not so ordinary day. I love the quote as well. wishing you a wonderful Holiday Season and all the best in the New Year.
That does sound like a very special lunch with your hubby. Your photo collage of Deepwood Estate is lovely.
That list of things I want to do when I someday get to Oregon just grows and grows! This is beautiful!
*My verification word is chesty. I take exception to that subliminal reminder that too many cookies make me chesty, too!
Beautiful indeed.
I love that Christmas quote.
Blessings and Merry Christmas
Love Jeanne

Just the two of us this year, Joe's son did join us for Christmas dinner!
