While sipping my morning tea today I read the latest issue of Victoria Magazine.
There were stories of summer memories and it brought back several for me.
I will share one today and maybe more another day.
When I was in high school I spent several summers with cousins, aunts, and uncles
working in the apple harvest. I was saving money for college.
There was a summer friendship that developed with one boy,
he had hoped it would be a lifetime romance.
For me it was a dear friendship.
He would say, "Come watch me play baseball tonight".
The games were in "fields of dreams", out in the country we would go in a pickup,
my cousin, a friend, this boy, and me.
The evenings were filled with starlight and warm summer breezes.
I would watch this boy and cheer for him.
It really didn't matter to me who won, for he had won my heart that warm summer night.
After the game there were large cauldrons of freshly picked corn on the cob, slathered in butter,
plus a truck load of watermelons warmed by the sun.
A meal can be made of just this.
Fresh juices running down our arms, no utensils were needed.
It was the delight of laughing and being together on this warm summer evening
that brings back memories of a summer long ago.
Though the romance didn't last, it is still a dear summer memory.
Do you have a summer memory to share either here or on your blog?
Let me know, I would love reading them.

Remembering days long ago when one was young, brings back good and not so good memories! Youth is a time for learning and growing. I had just finished high school and turned 18 that summer. I married a few months later and now soon to be 52 years later still married to the same young man but not so young now! Life is good and we are so blessed.
Have a great day!
It's a beautiful memory!
What a nice memory Marilyn, I will leave mine on my blog. Thank-you for the idea!
Oh, this is super-sweet, Marilyn!! Can easily picture it all... *sigh*... A summer memory that always revives for me is the thrill of going to the library during summer vacation during school years. I can still smell that library--in an old, converted farm house it was--the dusty, musty smell of books, the creaking old wide, wooden floor boards. I'd take out a BIG stack of books for two weeks. Such simple sweet days and times those week. I think about this every single summer... And going to the library is still a thrill, every time, no matter the season. :o) Thanks for sharing this, Marilyn... Hope you'll share another! ((HUGS))
A beautiful summer memory !
Oh Marilyn, how totally enchanting. Now that is what summer is all about -- sweet boys, baseball, apples and orchards and summer fruit. A memory worthy of "Victoria," too!
I cherish my memories of times gone by. This was a good one!
I don't have any summer romance memories, but it certainly made me smile to read about yours!
It sounds like a lovely simple time! I grew up fairly rurally so this sort of thing sounds like heaven to me!
