Law of Fair Exchange
I met a stranger in the night
Whose lamp had ceased to shine;
I paused and let him light
His lamp from mine.
****
A tempest sprang up later on
And blew the world about;
And when the wind was gone,
My light was out.
****
Then back again the stranger came;
His light was glowing fine.
He held again the precious flame
And lighted mine.

As winter is approaching I am craving the light. Candles come out as I sip my tea. It reminds me of the need for light when life is most dark. The light, even if it is only a flicker, brings hope to my heart for days of healing, laughter, quiet times, and times spent with dear ones.
May you find glimmers of light in these dark times. May these little signs of light shine on you and bring hope to your heart.
Sending love,
Marilyn

You and I are much the same in our need for light, Marilyn. I'm getting very itchy to get some lights up in the house, that sparkle. Maybe this weekend, even if there isn't yet a tree to trim!
It is so gray today, the lights are on over the buffet, string lights are on above the tv...(too lazy to take them down during the year)---and my shelf above my kitchen windows, garland and lights are on...LOL< and most of the Christmas lights for outside are in the livingroom being tested and gone over for fraying...so your post hit made a direct HIT on exactly where I am right now...have cup with me, grins, Sandi
This is such a special post, Marilyn. I love candles too, especially during the holiday season. I put out three today, and more to come. The poem is delightful, and how you find these wonderful quotes and poems, I'll never know. ; ) That picture is so pretty, by the way, and I love the purple bowl you placed the candle in.
