Lazy, Hazy Dayz of Summer

Summer is almost over, but I wonder what have you done with those "lazy, hazy dayz of summer"?

Dipping toes in the water of a pool or shore.

Walking down a sun lite dappled lane.

Sitting by the shoreline to watch the sunset.

Letting peach or apple juice run down your arms as you savor.

Read a good beach book. I enjoyed The Women by Kristin Hannah

Listen to some mellow, slow jazz. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBHVKCfntZs&ab_channel=JazzyRelaxBMG

Walk with a friend.

Have dinner out side under the moonlight.

What did you do?

Sending love,

Marilyn

A Rose

" The rose is known as “the queen of flowers,” and much of the rose's symbolism reflects its regal title. Roses symbolize love, royalty, beauty, sensuality, secrecy, and mysticism. They are also associated with achievement and perfection."

Peninsula Park is about a 5 minute drive from my house. Right now the rose garden is in full bloom; so one morning this past week I had to take a walk among the roses. I wasn't the only one enjoying the morning in the roses. There were many volunteers working to deadhead the roses, but there were also many people just out enjoying the morning air and fragrance.

It was a beautiful morning.

Hoping you are having opportunity to smell the roses in your part of the world.

I will be away for a few days and will be back in one week. My computer is going to the hospital for a check up and cleaning while I am away. Hoping they don't find anything serious, but it just needs to be cleaned and upgraded a bit. It serves me well and I would miss it.

In the meantime, dance in the moonlight and savor the sultry days of summer.

Happy Summer Solstice!

Sending love, Marilyn

Summer Was..........

 Summer was................

Tea in the garden

A river view for fish and chips

A treehouse for #1 grandson and time with #1 grandson.

I say #1 grandson, but he is the only one. A real treasure!

A drive in the country.

A miniature golf game with #1 grandson.

Tea in the gardenhouse on several occasions. The tea/gardenhouse will be put to bed next week for the winter.

A visit to my favorite antique mall. I debated about those tables, but one was rather wobbly.

The more tea with the TeaFestPDX event where I organize the British Tea Tent. Next year's event is already in the planning for July 13th.

A visit to Lan Su Chinese Gardens with #1 grandson.

Walks in several gardens.

More time exploring with #1 grandson. Do you see a pattern. Most Wednesday this summer I had the pleasure of time with #1.

Family dinner and a bit of play.

More time walking by water.

A bit of hiking among the trees.

Flowers to enjoy in the garden.

A picnic on Mt. Hood with my "live-in gardener".

Oh, did we ever have plums. There was plum cake and lots of dried plums now in the freezer.

The tallest sunflower in our garden.

A full moon.

Ziplining with #1 grandson.

More flowers in the garden.

Tea with friends at the park.

A wonderful adventure to Victoria, BC and the northern part of Washington State.

Afternoon tea at Butchart Gardens.

A walk in the gardens of Government House in Victoria, BC.

A visit at sister-in-laws beautiful home. Isn't her view amazing?

Another nature walk in Sequim, Washington.

Then ferry to Seattle, WA. and enjoyed a day of sipping tea with friends at the NW Tea Festival.

Summer was a delight of flowers, nature, friends, #1 grandson, and plenty of tea.
Hope your summer was full of delights!
Welcome Autumn!

August Was......

August was indeed all the things mentioned. But it also was time with my grandson and time with tea. My D came visiting the other day and as he looked at that picture on my wall he said I probably didn't have that chair anymore and he wouldn't fit it. So I pulled out the chair and we did a little photo shoot. Oh what a difference a few years make!!!

Normally D won't pose for me or let me take his picture; so we both had fun with that little chair. I loved that he wanted to play for awhile and pose in his play. I can't believe it, but D will start the fourth grade next week. I need to savor each moment when I see him, he will be a man before I know it.

And then there was teatime.
I hadn't been to a proper tearoom in a very long time.
It was lovely to have someone else make the food and serve myself and a friend.
Teatime at Wildwood Cottage Tea Room in Newberg, Oregon was a delight; even if I got totally lost trying to find it. Whew! Once I arrived my friend and I just relaxed and enjoyed.

I have done many teas in our gardenhouse this past year. This one took place on a hot day just a couple days after having tea at Wildwood Cottage. Now I think it is time to take a tea break; though I still enjoy my morning tea at my very own dining table.

We are still having HOT days. When I was younger I loved summer days. That said, anymore I just don't care much for HOT days. Secretly I am looking forward to the coolness of Fall/Autumn; but don't tell anyone.

I hope you are having a delightful end of summer and savoring each day.
Happy weekend, dear friends!
