This coming Sunday I have been asked to give the "First Word" to begin the church service. My pastor said to think "Gratitude". In writing the Focus on the Stars this year I feel like it has been a nod to "gratitude". Often we notice and focus on the big things, such as wellness/illness, food/no food, or the well being of those around us.
In my church each Sunday people share requests and celebrations in offering prayer and it is the big things that often get mentioned.
I hope by "focusing on the stars" this year you have taken time to notice some of the small things, the things we often forget to mention. I know I am always thankful for food in the cupboard and good health. I am thankful for a full cup of tea, apple pie, and a friend to share it with.

I am personally focusing on the here and now! Being more present in everything I do and plan to do. Time is a flighty thing when you are in your late 70's, so this is the only way to deal with the tasks and trials at hand. Sandi
Oh Marilyn, what a wonderful post. I loved everything about it. All the things you are grateful for, and the pictures that go along with them. I love those golden Autumn trees, they're so pretty. Your apple pie looks scrumptious. There are so many things to be grateful for, I couldn't list them all. But I'm aware of them each and every day.
Have a happy November week, Marilyn.

I am grateful for heating pads, handicapped parking stickers, time with friends, health insurance, heat and food. And Lizzie.
I am thankful for warm socks, for cups of tea, and the gleam of light reflecting on my brass candlesticks. The little things in life are often taken for granted, yet we would really notice if they were gone.
