Morning Tea with Me

The “A” List
Kittens are your very best guests for tea.
They won’t require Albert’s china.
When serving milk and savories
A chipped saucer will do just fine.

They will sit quietly and enjoy
Your company
And never say
“So tell me, Dear,
What is it exactly that you do?”

Kittens are cute,
Generally quiet and mostly free.
Could there ever be
A better invitee for tea?

This poem came in my inbox just yesterday.
I had been thinking about my Joey Cat joining me for morning tea lately.
Not sure why I was so slow to take notice,
but every morning he stretches out at my feet when I have my breakfast tea.
Of course there is a tummy rub involved.
Even if the tummy rub wasn't there, he would still be there quietly enjoying
 morning tea with me.

Peek Behind the House

When you are out walking in a neighborhood do you wonder
what is behind the house?
Saturday I had the opportunity to see behind a house
and saw an amazing garden by Barbara Ashmun, a garden writer.
What I loved about this first photo is the incorporation of potted plants into the garden.
The wide view, but it goes back further than you can see.
Loved the shape of this tree.
There were lilies everywhere.
The grape arbor was just loaded with grapes.
Think she would let me come back when they are ripe?
The chair was beckoning to sit awhile.
I did sit, but this was my view.
A lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon with a friend.
A bell shaped clematis, I had never seen one.
Very pretty!

If given the opportunity always walk on the back side.
You may encounter beauty not revealed by the facade.

Monday's Quotes

Keep love in your heart.
A life without it is like a sunless
garden when the flowers are dead.

Flowers in the Wild

My heart goes pitter patter at the sight of a flower.
On a recent country walk I went in search of flowers in the wild.
Come along with me.
Let us walk in the woods and discover wild and wonderful delights.

A field full of daisies just makes me smile.

Even the small critters love a flower.
Isn't God's touches of beauty just spectacular?
For even the heart of God needed this surrounding beauty to make the day special.

From a Girl's Window

From a Girl's Window

This window frames for me alone
Clouds across which birds have flown.

It panels low hills and a sky
Where storms and stars and new suns lie.

On the curtains trees have laid
Cool, grey fingerprints of shade.

Through its casements moons have crossed,
And winds, and still white-slippered frost.

Dawns creeping in, tiptoe, have spread
Silken rose quilts on the bed.

And dust flies to the sill and sings
Of strangely lovely, wistful things.

~Ethel Romig Fuller, Kitchen Sonnets

This was the view for me last weekend.
A pleasant, wonderful time away with girlfriends.
Time to refresh, talk, and enjoy some meals together
is pure delight.

Summertime Memories

Ahhh, Summertime

When with a dare, I swung a pail of freshly picked cherries over my head, holding them in the bucket until a missed turn tumbled them to the ground.

Letting my hair fly in the wind as my uncle took me on wild rides on the back of his topless Jeep.  Whoa! Under the branches and over dirt trails through the sunshine and country side.

Barefoot while walking through the apple orchard where the soil was finely sifted and squished through the toes,
oh the warmth and joy of it all.

While in the apple orchard finding just the
right amount of stripes, a perfect apple sunburned by the sun.
The juice from that first bite running down my arms in glorious delight.

Washing the soil and the apple juice away as I leapt into the cool water of the irrigation pool nearby.

Yes, those were the delights and joys of summers long ago.

What JOY do you remember of summer times long ago?
