Monday's Quotes

If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in.

One way to open your eyes is to ask yourself, "What if I had never seen this before? What if I knew I would never see it again?"

The more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for destruction.
~Rachel Carson

OMG I absolutely love this quote by Rachel Carson - she was the best when it came to Nature and saving our planet.

I know I have tried to follow this concept with one very special child in my life - recalling now the walks to school, viewing early morning spider webs draped like jewelry over the Lamb's Ears. I miss those days............instead, yesterday, I put her on a plane alone and off she went, all grown up, across the continent to enjoy Nature in California!

Thanks for this Marilyn, it made this morning special.

Hugs - Mary

P.S. She loved the clothes/sandals with the swoosh! All fit - and she took them with her on the trip!

That is a great call to action!

I believe this so strongly Marilyn, it's the whole purpose of my book. Children are missing out on so much beauty and wonder that surround them.

All things are seen different from the eyes of a child. Thanks Marilyn.

That is a great quote.

It reminds me a little of some of Fred Rogers' quotes, like, 'All life events are formative. All contribute to what we become, year by year, as we go on growing. As my friend the poet Kenneth Koch once said, "You aren’t just the age you are. You are all the ages you ever have been!"'

Keeping close to kids of all ages, keeping close to discovery and mystery, definitely helps the adults, too. :)

Gorgeous photo and a perfect quote to go with it. Those are the things we may take for granted. They are too lovely -- they don't deserve it.

A lovely quote indeed. Far too many adults have lost that "sense of wonder" which is so important!
