Repeat and Repeat

This past weekend we had a day set aside to spend with the one and only grandson.
In the morning we were taking him to church with us
and in the afternoon the plan was to go to the zoo.
He absolutely did not want to go to church after earlier saying he would go.
In the past he always went with us, but as he has gotten older he has refused.
After some cajoling and then counting, he agreed to go.
We could easily have said OK we won't go,
but we decided we couldn't back down.
He was warmly greeted and everyone was happy to see him.
There was even a hug from one cute little girl.
As we headed home I asked if it went OK,
his comment in return just made me smile.
He simply said "repeat and repeat",
which meant he hoped to repeat the adventure.

Thinking on this I am struck by how this happens in all our lives at times.
There is something we don't want to do, but by making ourselves do it
we find it quite nice. We want a repeat and repeat!

By the way, we didn't even make it to the zoo as it was raining,
but playing games all afternoon worked too.
Picture was taken at the beginning of kindergarten in the fall.

We're going to get that too, one day, on something or other. I'm glad he wanted a repeat and repeat!

What a nice story, Marilyn. I'm glad he liked going to church. This is a cute picture, and maybe you can go to the Zoo some other time. I've been wanting to go myself - one of my favorite places actually.

He's such a cute looking boy, and full of personality, from your story.

A lovely story Marilyn. Including your grandson in your normal activities as well as special occasions is a wonderful way to enjoy being with D. I'm glad he had a nice time with you and your welcoming friends at church. Good memories of your times together are built on such happy experiences.

What a cute story! I just love hearing about your precious grandson, and the "Repeat and repeat" story is a keeper.

How sweet! It must been hard encouraging kids as they grow older to keep wanting to go to church, when there is still so much to grasp about God and spirituality in daily life... What a brave boy is D!! He is so cute too! But you're right... in life there things we don't always want to do, and sometimes we really have to talk ourselves into doing them--not easy, no matter our age! ;) ((HUG))

Yes, he's growing up and showing his independent streak! These years pass far too quickly with the little ones -
now I have two little great grandsons but am missing their changes as they are too far away to see often!
