Flowers for Remembrance

Lupins always remind me of fields of lupins I once walked through on Mt.Cook in New Zealand. We saw the typical blue ones along the road, but also came across yellow ones too.

The old graveyard had California poppies.

Apple blossoms in Sebastopol. I took many pictures of the blossoms on the ranch that use to belong to my grandfather, then aunt and uncle. I will share more blossoms another day.

Beautiful roses at a winery we stopped at in Sonoma, California.
Enjoy the flowers today and this weekend. Celebrate Memorial weekend by remembering those that have gone before us. The grave yard is where my mother is buried. It brought me joy to leave a rose on her grave in remembrance. The apple blossoms are for remembrance of my special grandfather. Celebrate your remembrances with flowers. Pick a pretty bouquet and remember.

Your photos make me yearn for more roadtripping. I think I could live out of my car for an extended period of time, return to a home base for a while and then repeat the process all over again.

Last night I was looking through some resort photos and came across one I had snapped of a landscape featuring Bird Of Paradise flowers. It made me think about my Dad - that was his favorite flower.

Your photos are all lovely. Thanks for sharing your travels with us.

My Hubby bought me flowers for Mothers day and he included 3 yellow roses for my mom...they were her favorite....they dried beautifully and i put them under a cloche....interesting how flowers can instantly trigger a memory....great post!

I have a few lupines and so far they are hanging in there - we get a lot of hail so I hope not this year!

My mother in law visits family graves every Memorial Day and leaves flowers. It brings her peace, too. My family has never done that as we have never, not once, lived near any other family. It strikes me as a lovely tradition. Your flower portraits are lovely as well.

I love this post because it shows that flowers in their wildness are just as beautiful as cultivated ones. Right now the blue and yellow lupins are in abundance at our cabin property --- I enjoy the color they bring. And the orange poppies amongst the gravestones --- very lovely. Great photos --- they tell a story well.
