Praying
I doesn't have to be the blue iris,
it could be weeds in a vacant lot,
or a few small stones;
just pay attention,
then patch a few words together
and don't try to make them elaborate,
this isn't a contest but the doorway into thanks,
and a silence in which another voice may speak.

What a beautiful quote Marilyn, and so true. Enjoy your week.
Mary Oliver says it so well.
Oooh, she is so wise.
I love her work -- and you find the best of it!
Mary Oliver... she just has a way of saying things so true. "..the doorway into thanks," That's often how I think of prayer as being--a door to connection, or even love in action. This was lovely, Marilyn... love the photo too. :o) Happy Day ((HUGS))
Beautiful photos and beautiful quote...
Yes, Mary Oliver knows how to put things to right in her poetry - much of it is so perfect and certainly makes one pause and think.
Hugs - Mary
She is a wonderful poet and prayers are always from the heart, no matter where or when they're said. Lovely tall trees in your photo.
I was praying outside just this afternoon (for seriously ill family and friends), and when I looked up, a beautiful yellow butterfly was right before me. Hmmm ...
