Brew a Cup of Tea

When the world is all at odds
And the mind is all at sea,
Then cease the useless tedium
And brew a cup of tea.
There is magic in its fragrance,
There is solace in its taste;
And the laden moments vanish
Somehow into space.
And the world becomes a lovely thing!
There's beauty as you'll see;
All because you briefly stopped
To brew a cup of tea.
~William Gladstone

Found in the book I am reading right now:  Oolong Dead by Laura Childs
I do love a murder mystery once in the while along with a cup of tea.

What a beautiful poem Marilyn - perfect for these somewhat worrisome days here in our country!
This afternoon my older daughter came by with my middle granddaughter and we brewed tea - along with cranberry orange teacake - and chatted about our recent trips. How refreshing to spend time with tea and loved ones.
Today the HVAC guy also came and we have a/c again - I now feel alive and thankful as these hot days have really dragged me down with no cooling!

Hope all is well dear - many thanks for all your comments whilst I've been traveling non-stop!
Love and hugs - Mary

I've read lots of Laura Childs' books too but not that one. Who knew a prime minister could be so poetic?!

A wonderful quote and it's so true that brewing a cup of tea holds something special. I've read a few of Laura Childs' books, will look for that one.

A beautiful sentiment Marilyn. I'll also have to look for books by this author.

The poem is very accurate. Taking time for tea allows me to reflect and make purposeful choices when I drink alone. With friends, tea seems to enhance good conversation. I've heard about Child's series of tea room mysteries. I need to check them out.
