Monday's Quotes

what lies before us are tiny

Drift Creek Falls - A Family Hike

Fascinated by what he sees below.

The sight below on a very special family hike.

Drift Creek Falls is near Lincoln City by the Pacific Ocean.
It is a 3.5 mile hike round trip.

The water flows to the sea.

The rock formations are just beautiful.
The vegetation was a delight.
But most of all what sang to my heart
was a walk in the woods with family.

What is singing to your heart today?

Teacup, teacup, Who has the Teacup

Who needs a teacup?
Certainly not me!
Who can't resist when they find one they love.
That would be me.
After browsing the antique shop at the beach,
I saw this beauty and it came home with me.
For those of you that collect,
it is Spode's Wicker Bell.
There is a wicker pattern on both the saucer and cup
with sweet little yellow flowers.
I do believe it is just perfect for sipping my tea this fall/autumn day.

A is for Apple and Autumn

A is definitely in my mind for Apples and Autumn.
It must be in other minds also, as these apples were found
at a recent venture to the antique mall.
Love it when nature is shared with beautiful pieces of delight.
Yes, P is for Pumpkin too and on another day there will be Pumpkins to delight;
but for today A is for Apple and Autumn.

What apple do you love to munch this time of year?

In August I munch Gravenstein's, which also make wonderful pies and sauce.
and
Now I am munching Honey Crisp. Oh Yummmmmmm!

Tea by the Sea

Time for tea by the Pacific Ocean.

It was a gorgeous, sunny afternoon.

Just the perfect time to enjoy a cup of tea and a few goodies.

The teapot held a Tulsi tea/tisane with just the right amount of peppery flavor.

Flowers were picked along the roadside and put in the jar.

Savoring his tea, which was shared with me.
We also had roast beef with caramelized onion sandwiches,
cucumber sandwiches,
watermelon salad, and thumb print cookies with
a dollop of earl grey tea jelly.

Tea is extra special when enjoyed in the sunshine.

Monday's Quotes

“Delicious autumn!
My very soul is wedded to it,
and if I were a bird I would fly
about the earth seeking the successive autumns.”

Rest and Relaxation

I came to the ocean to see the moon and the moon saw me.
One crazy lady out in her fluffy robe at 5:30AM just to watch the moon lower into the Pacific Ocean.  What a treat to see the full moon on a beautiful morning at the coast.
On holiday for a few days for rest and relaxation.
I hope each of you finds opportunity for rest and relaxation.
Yes, it is Thursday, but I am going to wish you ado until Monday.
Happy weekend, dear friends.
Take time to sip a cup of tea and enjoy!

Small Treasures

On a 95 degree day I invite a friend for tea.
As you can see there is no teapot, but a pitcher of iced tea to savor and to cool.
Cookies from the freezer to delight.

The remaining cookie after tea time is sitting on my new small treasure.

It is a small Homer Laughlin platter with blue birds.

I love Homer Laughlin as they were made in the USA.
This small treasure was found at Merci, a sweet antique shop in Jacksonville, Or.

Just so the party is complete a bouquet of hydrangeas from the garden.
A visit to delight even when the temperature is HOT.

Monday's Quotes

And the day came when the
risk to remain tight in a bud
was more painful than the risk
it took to blossom.

Cabin Chic

Monticello Antique Mall is having their Autumn show right now.
Walking into the displays I felt like I was stepping into a mountain cabin.
It was a bit rustic, cowboy boots and furs, lanterns and jugs.
Double click on each photo for a closer look.
There is a lot to see in each photo.

Seeing what is trending each season is always fun with this show.
In the Spring it was the color yellow that popped.
For Autumn it felt like cabin chic.

Another show this coming weekend.
It will be interesting to see if the trend holds true.

Stroll Through the Garden

The Winchester House in Ashland, Oregon
has a garden to delight the heart.
Saturday morning before we left for home, we took a stroll here.
How delightful to sit under the canopy of sunshine, trees, umbrellas, and trellises.
Just savoring the day, taking it all in and surrounding myself with memories.
Will you join me in savoring the day.
Maybe pick up a cup of tea and a cookie too.
Now let's sit, chat, and listen to a bit of natures song.
Sing with the birds in laughter in delight.

Jacksonville - A Historic Town

Last week my adventure took me to Southern Oregon and the historic town of Jacksonville.
I had visited here before, but had not had the time to just wander with my camera.
What a delight it was to wander.
It so happened that it was the beginning of the village wide garage sale, so
in my wandering I enjoyed stopping by a few sales too.
Now I always say there isn't much I need, my house is full;
but I did bring one small find home with me and will share another day.
The best part of the adventure was just wandering and taking pictures.
Do you like to wander and take pictures or just create pictures in your mind?
Either way is pure DELIGHT.

During the summer months Jacksonville has a wonderful concert series in their
open air pavilion.   If you ever find yourself traveling through Southern Oregon,
for sure check out the Britt Festival schedule.  http://www.brittfest.org/

Late Summer Color

Adventure is always the best.
It makes my heart sing.
Seeing the colors of the season brings great JOY.
From rosehips, acorns, red chairs, and zinnias too.
The pink flower I wasn't sure what it was,
but is was soft and lacy and a delight to the eyes.
Most of all I just loved the warmth of a walk in the afternoon
with white fluffy clouds in a beautiful blue sky.
Oh yes, adventure on a warm summer day
sings of DELIGHT to my soul.

Monday's Quotes

That's the real trouble with the world,
too many people grow up.
They forget.
They don't remember what it's like to be twelve years old.
~Walt Disney

Note:  The photo was taken at the Beverly Cleary fountain in Portland, Oregon.  The dog is a sculpture and the water is real.

Back on Monday

I am off on a small adventure - blowing bubbles and sipping tea.

Enjoying the flowers along the way.

Oh how I love the blue in this flower on my porch.
I have tried for 3 years to have a blue morning glory grow in the garden,
finally success!  Thanks, Mary for the inspiration!

Back on Monday, Have a Delightful weekend, dear friends!

King Arthur Scone Competition

Saturday at the Oregon State Fair I had the honor of being a judge
for the King Arthur Scone Competition.

This is the winning, blue ribbon, scone.
When I took this photo, I didn't know that it was the winner.

The judges table with a basket of Marmalady's goodies to show.

So many of the scones were just delicious this year.  This is a plate of an assortment of delights.

The first place winner was just thrilled, can you tell?
She sat right in front of the whole tasting and judging just anticipating.
When her name was announced, she jumped from her seat with JOY.
It was fun to see her reaction.

Have you had a good scone lately?
Was it flavored or plain?
If flavored, what flavor do you like?
