In the Early Morning Hour

In the early morning hour I walk, I discover, and I feel the wind and sprinkles of rain against my face. I delight in these moments.

This week I found the first daffodils beginning to bravely open.

And snowdrops too!!!

A touch of white upon the ground

Icy, frosty morning light

The sun comes up

Color abounds

They light the sky

Listen closely to the morning sounds

The gurgle of water as it warms for tea

The cat’s meow as he asks to be fed

I awaken to the dawn of a new day

Colors surround me

They dance before my eyes

A song touches my heart

And I pray

My tea in a pretty spring teacup this morning. Sipping Yunnan Gold from Floating Leaves, a favorite all year long. In springtime I especially enjoy a fresh cup of tea and think of the farmers just beginning to pluck the tea for me. I lift my cup in celebration.

I notice what I notice in the small details of the day.

I savor and delight.

May your weekend be full of delight!

A Gift for You - A Flower and A Poem

 Haiku for you

Blossoms of Springtime

Flutter softly to the ground

Rain and Snow be gone

~m.miller

From my cherry tree this morning. Dreaming of dark red cherries, if only those pesky squirrels would leave some for me.

Just yesterday I spotted a little bird in my plum tree. As I knocked on the window to say hello, he looked at me with his greedy little beak full of blossoms. It was rather hilarious to see and I wished to have my camera close at hand, but it was for the moment before he flew away with my blossoms still firmly in his mouth.

Ahhhhh! Springtime!

A Gift for You - A Flower and A Poem

Did you learn just this past week that the national flower for Ukraine is a sunflower? I did. In support of their country today I am sharing for them.

The Way It Is by William Stafford

There’s a thread you follow. It goes among
things that change. But it doesn’t change.
People wonder about what you are pursuing.
You have to explain about the thread.
But it is hard for others to see.
While you hold it you can’t get lost.
Tragedies happen; people get hurt
or die; and you suffer and get old.
Nothing you do can stop time’s unfolding.
You don’t ever let go of the thread.

I am holding to the thread for each person hurting in this world, but especially today for the people of Ukraine. Send prayers through the thread with love.
We are all connected!

A Gift for You - A Flower and a Poem

Often early in the morning I walk in my garden. I am searching for what is beautiful or what is new. This week on a frosty morning I found a snowdrop blooming. I was so excited because I just planted a couple bulbs about two years ago and this was my first sighting. Do you get excited when you discover something new growing, especially when you least expect it? This snow drop reminds me of a ballerina twirling and dancing in my garden. I am in love.

frosty winter morn

anticipates spring to come

A haiku written just for you!

Happy Monday, dear friends!

Have a great week.

Blow'n in the Wind

Blow'n in the wind
My heart will upward soar
In the end Love wins
~a haiku for you, m.miller

Oh how I delight in seeing my laundry drying in the
sunshine and breezes.

A quote by the Dalai Lama that has touched my heart this week:

"Practice warm heartedness."

For only love and "warm heartedness" will save the day
and we will come out the other end
better people
better friends
and better parents
better citizens of the world

Tea Party Whimsy

Have you ever had a tea party in the snow?
Last week in The Oregonian newspaper one of my favorite comics
featured a "tee pahrtee".
I must agree, it would be too cold; but it is fun to play with tea things in the snow.
There is a stillness
Snow blankets us in white fluff
We are warmed by tea
~haiku by me

Just enjoy your surrounding whether the sun is blazing hot
or you are covered in a blanket of snow.
Weather determines whether it be cold or hot tea to delight us.
Always just ENJOY!

Tea Delight Forgotten and Found

Tea time in the snow doesn't happen often in my part of the world.
What fun to make a trail to the tea table in the garden.
It was time to play in my sort of way.
The snow wasn't very good for snowmen,
but for tea time it was perfect!
Gingerbread cookies from the freezer were the added delight.
Then there was tea.
The tea was from Harney & Sons, Thurbo 2nd flush Darjeeling.

My haiku for the day

Oh little tea tin,
I forgot you were in there.
Revealed, Delicious!

Yes, I forgot I had this tea.
It got buried in my basket of tea.
What a treat to sip a lovely Darjeeling in the midst of the snow.
A black tea so simple with just the delight of springtime from India.
A gift of the sun.

Now if only I could find the lid to my teapot,
it is lost in the snow.

Happy New Year - 2017

Silently the days
In the cold night of winter
A new year appears
~haiku, m.miller

As if by magic  2016 has come to an end.
I breathed in each day and exhaled to let it go.
Always with hope the new year begins.
New stories to live.
New stories to tell.
May you be blessed beyond your wildest imaginations.
Dance in the day, each and every day.
Thanks for walking with me, dear friends!
Let's continue the walk into 2017.
Put on those tutu's along with me,
for we only can make it better by spreading our love and JOY.
Brush away hatred.
Embrace JOY.

Celebrate!  Happy New Year!

Early Morning Hour

Solitude so sweet
In the early morning hour
Sip some tea and read

haiku, m.miller

This morning tea was sipped in the greenhouse.
In my cup was Yunnan Dian Hong Ancient Tree Black Tea from TeaVivre.
A love morning tea, rich and full bodied.  Yummmm!

Then books are my friend.
The Butterfly Box by Santa Montefiore has been recently read
and a delight to the soul.
My Grandmother asked me to tell you she's sorry by Fredrik Backman,
I am reading now and enjoying.
Susanne of Love and Art by Elaine Todd Koren will be read soon.
I am fascinated by the woman, Suzanne Valadon, who I became acquainted
with at the Montemartre Museum in Paris.
Thanks to my friend, Jeanie, for sending me this book.

The best of mornings are made of this.

Valentine's

Playing with Still Life's for the class I am taking and wanted to celebrate Valentine's Day.
Macaron's and tea are the best sort of celebration.
Hand written recipes in my mom's hand writing just make me smile.
Vintage Valentine's touch my happiness.
Now sipping and nibbling!
And of course a Valentine for our neighbors!

Valentine's delights.
Flowers, hearts, chocolates this day.
Brightly shine for me.
~m.miller, haiku

Happy Valentine's Day and weekend, dear friends!
Make it a special one.

Sun and Rain

Delight in the Sun
The birds sing their song of JOY
Refreshed by the rain
~haiku, m.miller

I love the beauty that surrounds me,
right in my own back yard.
From the doves sitting in the big tree
to the raindrops on roses.

Notice what you notice each and every day.
Have an extra special weekend, dear friends!

Joey Sighting

A Joey sighting.
He even posed just for you.
No hat or costume.
haiku-Joey

Joey often follows me around, especially in the mornings.
This is my common view with my morning tea.
Right at this moment he is sitting nearby watching
for squirrels, birds, and one black cat.

Let the Season of Glitter Begin

So many little glittery houses and vignettes.

Wreaths too were full of the glittery stuff.

Christmas at the mall
The season delights my eyes
Glitter all around
~from me to you

Let the festivities begin,
but first I hope you had a delightful Thanksgiving if you live in the US.
I thoroughly enjoyed sitting at the table with my family.

Now it is time to play with glittery things,
bake cookies and cakes,
drink hot chocolate and special teas,
sing holiday songs,
and dance in the twilight.

Happy weekend, dear friends!
