The Livin' is Easy

Posted by Picasa
Canoes and water bring to mind summertime.
The song that runs through my mind is Summertime
and the Livin' is Easy.
But canoes and water also bring to mind a time
in my youth.
I loved going to summer camp, loved all the
water sports, including canoeing.
One summer long ago my mom decided to go
to camp with me as a counselor.
We arrived early and a group of us decided to go canoeing.
Now you must know my mom didn't swim.
Everyone wore life jackets.
It was a beautiful summer day on the Russian River.
Canoeing along we got caught in the currant
and surprise we were all in the water.
For most of us that was no problem, we could swim; but for my mom it was very scary.
Fortunately she was close to the canoe and held on until we could pull the canoe to shore.
So each time I see a canoe I think of my mom and that day on the river.
I guess the moral of the story is to know how to swim and always wear a life jacket on the river.
Be safe, soak up the sun, and enjoy the water this summertime.

The canoes in the picture were found at Trillium Lake in Oregon.

Monday Linen Days

A cute little pocket to hang in the kitchen found along the way in an antique shop a few years ago. I am not sure what it was suppose to hold, but I put small vintage cookie cutters in it. The edges have a sweet blue tatting and the design is embroidered. Maybe it was to hold teabags. What do you think?

Blue

The closest to blue I could find today in a flower.
Artificially blue!
I love the cobalt blue in this jar.
A blue wall.
Best of all a blue river (Columbia River) and sky.
There are all shades of blue.
Blue mood
Blue music, the Blues
Feeling blue
Red makes me feel happy.
White makes me feel peaceful.
Blue makes me feel at home.
Blue is a mellow color.
Put them all together and we have the colors of the USA flag.
Red, White, and Blue
How do the colors of the flag make you feel?

White

White teapots come in all shapes.
This is a tilting teapot from Germany.
White curtains blowing in an open window.

Mt. Hood on a summer day.
There is most often snow enough for skiing all year long.

A white rose is a thing of pure beauty!

Celebrating WHITE today. Oh the joys of a summer celebration. Celebrating the colors of our flag, we will celebrate with BLUE tomorrow.

Thanks for playing with me:

July is here and we are celebrating Red, White, and Blue Days.
The color Red is a vibrant, hot, happy color.
It is one that brings joy to my heart.
Enjoy the warm days of summer with Red as the beginning of a month of celebrating.
