Monday Linen Days

A cute little pocket to hang in the kitchen found along the way in an antique shop a few years ago. I am not sure what it was suppose to hold, but I put small vintage cookie cutters in it. The edges have a sweet blue tatting and the design is embroidered. Maybe it was to hold teabags. What do you think?

What an interesting design this is Marilyn. I'm guessing that whatever was intended for this little bag, it had to be something very lightweight.

By the way, I saw several sweet vintage pieces this weekend in El Dorado. One in particular I wish I had picked up now. *sigh*

That is a nice little embroidered bag.

Hmmm. I don't know what size this bag is, but the shape of it reminds me of a friend's vintage embroidered bag that was made to hold clothespins. Maybe?

I think you pretty linen bag was to be hung near the stove and hold pot holders so you did not burn your hand when lifting pots or the kettle. This type of embroidery was very popular in the 1950's when lots of kitchen items had an embroidered bag to keep it tidy.

I love it! I think it was made to hold potholders, but tea bags sound more fun. Another idea coming on --- maybe Marmalady Patterns needs to create a similar pattern made specifically for tea bags. This is totally precious!
