Words of Kindness and Joy

When I visited the Lan Su Chinese Gardens last week there was a stop along the way where you could read and write messages to the world on little origami art pieces. As I was reading some of the messages others had shared this one on kindness jumped out and grabbed me. I am finding all around me signs that others are focusing on the need for kindness.

Sometimes our world does feel so "bleak". There is so much sadness, selfishness and anger all around us if we focus on the news.

Focusing on kindness has helped me notice those little sparks of the good side of humanity, the kind that cares about people and things around them. I see the gardener tenderly caring for their plants, the mother that sacrifices for herself to give to her child, the man that walks into the humane society and carries out a tiny kitten that needs rescued. All around us we can see kindness when we only stop to pay attention.

Happy Kindness day, each and every day!

Yes, we can express ourselves with kindness in our words.

Sending love,

Marilyn

This is a post that gave me a smile, yes, kindness is all around us and we can spread it. That is one reason we are on earth, Philippians 4:8 tells us "Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable ... think about such things." That is sweet how the origami are used as you describe.

Sharing kindness seems such a simple thing to do. And we certainly need more of it! Reading your blog is a bright spot in my day.

I love the idea of the origami hearts. Kindness is something that only manifests when it is shared (OK, you can be kind to yoursef... but that only helps yourself, which isn't bad but so much better to spread it around!)

What a nice idea this is to write special notes and share them with others. There is something like this at an eclectic shop in my hometown. It's a prayer tree, and you can write any prayer you want and hang it on the tree. We do see kindness from time to time, but sometimes the world is in such a rush, it's hard to notice these kind gestures. But they are there. : )
