My view just yesterday across my little patio.
The Snowy Day is a 1962 American children's picture book by American author and illustrator Ezra Jack Keats. It features Peter, an African American boy. It was written to encourage everyone to slow down and notice the small things in life, something I try to do here on this blog.

As a white man, Esra Jack Keats was one of the first to write a children's book with multi-cultural children. His book has been banned recently because of that. When my children were young, Ezra Jack Keats, was a favorite author of theirs and visited their school on author's day.
This morning and last evening, sights of snow from my window. Many have walked their dogs past my window and I love seeing them out enjoying the snowy day.
Sending love and warmth on this Valentine's day. Hoping you are warm and cozy, tucked inside on this snowy day. Now I must sip some tea.
Sending love,
Marilyn

Marilyn, I can't tell you how saddened I am to find out that Ezra Jack Keat's The Snowy Day has been banned. I taught kindergarten for 30 years and that was one of my all time favorite books and I couldn't wait to read it to the children as soon as winter arrived. It remains one of my favorite children's books. How wonderful that your children got to meet such an awesome author/illustrator. Thankfully I have a couple of copies...that was one of the first books I gave to my nieces when they were little and now there is a new generation of grand nieces that I have given the book to as well. What a shame to think of the children that will miss out getting to know Peter and sharing in the fun he had in the snow. This is an injustice!!!
Why would anyone ban a book featuring multi-cultural children? Makes me want to purchase one for my own little granddaughters.
Snowy days are lovely, especially when we know the snow won't last too long.
ps ~ meant to sign my name....Susan
