Late Summer Color

Adventure is always the best.
It makes my heart sing.
Seeing the colors of the season brings great JOY.
From rosehips, acorns, red chairs, and zinnias too.
The pink flower I wasn't sure what it was,
but is was soft and lacy and a delight to the eyes.
Most of all I just loved the warmth of a walk in the afternoon
with white fluffy clouds in a beautiful blue sky.
Oh yes, adventure on a warm summer day
sings of DELIGHT to my soul.

Monday's Quotes

That's the real trouble with the world,
too many people grow up.
They forget.
They don't remember what it's like to be twelve years old.
~Walt Disney

Note:  The photo was taken at the Beverly Cleary fountain in Portland, Oregon.  The dog is a sculpture and the water is real.

Back on Monday

I am off on a small adventure - blowing bubbles and sipping tea.

Enjoying the flowers along the way.

Oh how I love the blue in this flower on my porch.
I have tried for 3 years to have a blue morning glory grow in the garden,
finally success!  Thanks, Mary for the inspiration!

Back on Monday, Have a Delightful weekend, dear friends!

King Arthur Scone Competition

Saturday at the Oregon State Fair I had the honor of being a judge
for the King Arthur Scone Competition.

This is the winning, blue ribbon, scone.
When I took this photo, I didn't know that it was the winner.

The judges table with a basket of Marmalady's goodies to show.

So many of the scones were just delicious this year.  This is a plate of an assortment of delights.

The first place winner was just thrilled, can you tell?
She sat right in front of the whole tasting and judging just anticipating.
When her name was announced, she jumped from her seat with JOY.
It was fun to see her reaction.

Have you had a good scone lately?
Was it flavored or plain?
If flavored, what flavor do you like?

Send Me a Letter

Send me a letter.
Mail received here amongst the roses.
I will be waiting and
watching Autumn rolling in.
The days are getting shorter.
Soon we will be tucking into our warm bundles.
Lanterns will be lite.
We will be dancing by the moon and under the stars.
Remember the colors of Spring time and Summer.
Sing songs of laughter.
Remember this day.
Send a letter to a friend.
Wish them happy Autumn days.
Tuck a rose petal between the pages to remember the beautiful days of Summer.
Send them love and a sonnet true.

Monday's Quotes

A long quote today, but one I think of as we begin September.

It's actually a song.  Enjoy! Happy September~

September Morn

Written by: neil diamond and gilbert becaud

Stay for just a while
Stay, and let me look at you
It’s been so long, I hardly knew you
Standing in the door
Stay with me a while
I only want to talk to you
We’ve traveled halfway ’round the world
To find ourselves again

September morn
We danced until the night became a brand new day
Two lovers playing scenes from some romantic play
September morning still can make me feel this way

Look at what you’ve done
Why, you’ve become a grown-up girl
I still can hear you cryin’
In the corner of your room
And look how far we’ve come
So far from where we used to be
But not so far that we’ve forgotten
How it was before

September morn
Do you remember how we danced that night away
Two lovers playing scenes from some romantic play
September morning still can make me feel this way

Tea Time in the Country

Impromptu tea parties in the country are a delight.
On occasion I pack up a picnic tea and off on country roads I go.
When I found these vintage pickups full of flowers I knew it was tea time.
Hot water in my grandpa's thermos, my cup and saucer, a teapot, and tea to brew.
My tea party was for me, myself, and I.
In the basket was a cookie treat to go with the tea.
What a wonderful time I had sitting on the running board of the yellow pickup sipping tea
and nibbling on a favorite cookie.

If you took yourself to tea what would be in your basket?
What tea would you take?

Happy weekend, dear friends!
May you find country roads and delights to sing in your heart.
