Easter Traditions?

When my two children lived far away I told my husband I didn't want to cook a big ham dinner just for the two of us.  That year I made a simple afternoon tea.  He worried that he would have enough to eat,
but on completion he said, "let's make this our new Easter tradition".  So each Easter since then I have
done an afternoon Easter tea.  It actually is alot more work than the ham dinner, but I have fun planning
and completing it, then enjoying sharing with family and friends.  This year there were 10 adults and 2 little girls having tea on Easter afternoon.  There was a small chocolate frog hidden under each persons napkin.  The place cards were tied to little farm animals I had spray painted chocolate brown.
The centerpiece was a chicken feeder with grass, eggs, and little yellow chickies.
And I always love the opportunity to place my grandfathers china on the table.

Do you have a family tradition for Easter and Springtime celebrating?
Tomorrow I will share a peak at the food I prepared.

How pretty your Easter tea looks! I loved the little yellow peeps, parading down the center of the grass lined table. Using the little animals for placecard holders was a cute idea too. Well done!

This is beautiful! Love the chicks in the green grass, and all your other special touches. Our family enjoys the traditional Easter ham, although ours is double smoked and accompanied with fresh asparagus and sweet potatoes. We always serve a dandelion salad with sliced eggs, bacon pieces, and wilted with hot bacon dressing. Oh yum! It's an easy holiday meal!

How lovely, Marilyn. I would be thrilled to have a seat at your tea table. Your guests were surely delighted!

The grass and little peeps are so cute and how special that you used the family china. You are a wonderful hostess.

What a beautiful Easter tea. Only you would spray paint farm animals bowl and uses as place markers or have little chicks in a mini lawn as a centerpiece. I can just imagine the food was amazing. This year it was only my dear hubby and one son. We had a quiet day together. Not a hard boiled egg or ham in site.

Your tablescape is wonderful! The children especially must have enjoyed seeing the chicks in grass as the centerpiece. I like it a lot too! What a nice way of keeping your grandfather's spirit alive than by using his china. It's obvious a lot of thought was put into your Easter tea!

Beautiful! And I'm sure quite tasty:)

Our tradition involves church with an Easter Feast there afterward. Easy peasy...

What a beautiful table for Easter tea - I like your tradition! I usually play and/or sing for at least 2 church services on Easter morning and this year went to a friend's home after church for a "covered dish" style Easter feast. It was great fun and hopefully will become an Easter tradition for us.

HOW LOVELY THE TABLE IS! We did have the tradition of family ham dinner and lots of Easter decor. But the kids are grown and moved away and my husband passed. I haven't done anything to celebrate Easter at home for couple of years. But this charming table and Afternoon Tea on Easter Sunday sounds a lovely idea- and I may start a new tradition next year!
