A Small Vacation

When a favorite magazine arrives in the mail I take a small vacation.
This was started with the original Victoria Magazine.
I make myself a cup of tea and maybe add a cookie too.
Then I find a comfy place to sit without distractions.
And for an hour I savor every word and every picture there.
When I am finished with my small vacation I feel refreshed
and have a smile on my face.
These days my small vacation is spent with Romantic Homes,
Tea a Magazine, and Victoria Magazine.
I enjoy an occasional online magazine, but there is just something
special about holding the magazine in my hand.
Do you take a small vacation when a special magazine arrives?
Which magazine gives your heart a smile?

The beauty within a favorite magazine can certainly transport us to another place! I look forward to receiving Tea Time Magazine, and Tea, A Magazine. They both provide an enjoyable afternoon and renewed inspiration when they arrive in the mail!

I also love Romantic Homes and Country Living is still a favorite. I love to cozy up with a great cup of tea, something sweet to munch on, and treat myself. Have you ever read Mary Janes Farm? Great ideas on gardening, crafts, and simple solutions for our homes. Hugs, Pam

Yes, I adore some magazines. My most recent purchase was entitled Flea Market Gardens. I really enjoyed seeing how "junk" might be transformed into garden treasures.

Tea Time Magazine is my favorite to retreat to a quiet place and savor over a cup of tea. I used to be this way over Southern Living, but it has changed with the times, and doesn't do the same for me. Sad, because I remember my mom and Aunt Mary doing the same with SL magazine.

Yes, I think Tea A Magazine and Tea Time do that for me. (And the one I work for ... when it goes off to the printer and I finally kiss it bye-bye, ha!)

I take a wee vacation when Victoria and Country Living arrive. What I don't have is a cookie! Now I think I should be sure to have one when I take my little vacations.

In this "mement" (my verification word), I can think of so many wonderful magazines! I love Victoria but don't take it. Will immediately stop everything when Cloth, Paper Scissors arrives or when I get a new Somerset Life; and while I just quit my subscription, Martha always worked for me, too. And yes, there is nothing ilke holding the paper, turning those wonderful colored pages. (Now if only they'd drop the perfume inserts -- too much for me!)

This week I received my Romantic Homes and my UK Country Living so lots of tea sipping and snuggling under a throw while turning pages!

I'm dropping Romantic Homes - too many pages of tiny ads annoy me - in fact have stopped several mags. lately. Prefer now to have fewer and better - I find the articles/photos etc. in UK Country Living worth the price, also Campagne Decoration for the beauty - both I subscribe to through Express Mag of Canada. It's always a happy day when I find them in the mailbox!

Happy cookie nibbling and reading Marilyn.
Hugs - Mary

There is definitely something different about reading on paper and reading from a screen! It's so nice to have some "me" time, especially with a cup of tea and a cookie!

Ooo... I loved the original Victoria Magazine too! The newer, revived Victoria is nice, but not quite the same I find. My Mom saves it for me to read sometimes when she gets it, so it is still a treat. :o) My favorite magazine of the home/interior variety though is the British edition of Country Living--I couldn't live without it! And you're right, when a fave magazine arrives, it is like a mini vacation to pour a cup of tea and read it...*sigh*... Happy Day, Marilyn ((HUGS))
