Three Cups of Tea

"Here (in Pakistan and Afghanistan), we drink three cups of tea to do business; the first you are a stranger, the second you become a friend, and the third, you join our family, and for our family we are prepared to do anything-even die."
-Haji Ali, Korphe Village Chief, Karakoram Mountains, Pakistan
Three Cups of Tea, by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin, is a fascinating book describing the connections Greg Mortenson, a mountaineer, made with the Pakistan people and how he came to develop schools in Pakistan. I was thoroughly captured by the story.
The picture above is from the book showing Haji Ali, Mortenson's mentor, and Mouzafer Ali, the porter who led Mortenson safely off the Baltoro Glacier.
