Monday Linen Days

Vintage napkins are so fun to find a garage/tag sale.
Someone cared enough to embroider and edge each napkin so beautifully.
The napkins are used and loved.

The more napkins the better. It is my way of enjoying someone's
lovely work, but also being a little more green by not using
paper. These napkins are saved for company and tea parties,
but we use simpler cloth napkins for everyday.

Your artful photos make me want to run home and place *my* Welbeck cup and saucer upon such a display! The napkins are lovely, and let me just say I am sooooo enjoying your posts about your linens!

Your vintage napkins are really lovely. I've never been lucky enough to find any at yard sales, but I'll be sure to keep looking.

That chintz cup and saucer is also very pretty.

This looks lovely...can I come for tea too?
I love embroidered things as well and I always keep my eye open for them at yard sales etc. but it's not often that you come across ones that aren't yellowed and stained. I do know how to embroider...just one of the many things my mother taught me when I was young and I used to embroider things on the little dresses I made for my daughters but once they were of an age when it wasn't cool to wear little princess dresses I just stopped embroidering.
Maybe I should take it up again. I know I still have patterns here somewhere.

I come from a family that as far as I know never used cloth napkins, but I do think they are beautiful!☺

You do have a marvelous collection of linens. I love to imagine when people took the time to make small beauties in their environment. By hand, no less.

I just LOVE these photos --- the spiral effect of the napkins with teacup in center --- is soothing and inviting.
