The August Break 2014 - bookshelf

 Books everywhere!
My books are in our hallway because there isn't anywhere else to put them.
I group my books in sections by: tea, inspiration, favorite fiction, children's, and to do.
Books for little D are in the basket.
He knows to go there for a book.
The basket above is books I have read and will pass on to others.
Next to the basket above is a stack of books to read.
My husband loves old books.
They are here in the living room along with travel books and picture books.
Do you get the idea?
We are surrounded by books.

Do you love books?
How do you categorize them?
Do you pass them along or keep them as treasures?

Oh yes Marilyn, I could easily live in your house!
I was brought up with books and book cases in every room in the house - well almost!
There is always a pile of books by the bed too!
When going to friends for dinner, as well as taking flowers, wine etc a nice idea is to take a book.
I am trying to declutter, so I like moving books on too!!
We're kindred spirits in many ways!

Have a happy Monday.

Later today I plan to photograph some of our books. We have books in every room of the house, including the bathroom. But, the main library is in our living room. Lots and lots of lovely shelves full.

I adore books. I don't really have a way to organise them because I have more books that I have room or shelves for. Most of them sit in piles. Ones that I don't particularly want to re-read get passed on to family or my old school library or second hand shops. More keep pouring in every time I go to second hand shops, which is good as I am a picky reader.

I was really looking forward to seeing your books, Marilyn, and how you arrange them! I like how you have used hallway space for shelves--great idea! I've loved books since I was a child. Through the years I've arranged books by genre alphabetically by author. I like to pass on a good read when I'm done. In recent years, much as I love books--the sheer pleasure of holding a book in the hand--we've downsized our "library" considerably, and especially now hubby & I are both reading books digitally. We still have a good collection of books, and probably always will. Some favorites we just have to hang on to. ;o)

Oh, yes, I do love books. Mine are not categorized well, I like your system. I do have books for my granddaughter in one spot, along with a couple of dolls and bears.

I had an interior decorator, who we had over to help w/ ideas on paint color, tell me I should get rid of my bookcase and books if I'd already read them. NOOOOOO!!!! You're fired!! I read mainly on my Kindle now so I don't have to drag 4 books with me when I travel, but I still need that anchor of real books and have them in bookcases around the house.

I love books too. Most of my novels are library loans or from charity shops that are passed on, but my reference and non fiction books are the ones I keep on the bookshelf which has just been painted. I'm pleased to see my favourites there on the shelf, especially gifts and those that belonged to past family members.

You are very organized! I used to have a basket of books sitting in the kitchen for Angelica and Cedar. That is now put away... they have graduated to school and public libraries along with bookstores.

Oh, I adore books! Part of my day job these days is reading/critiquing/editing books, and yet when I'm through with one, the first thing I do is reach for another book that's "just for me." Would love to come to your house and play among the books!
