My Word - 2016

Each year for more years than I can remember a word has traveled with me.
The first time I did it my word was PATIENCE and oh my did I get tested.
It must have been at least 25 years ago because I can remember where we were living
and some of the tests.
So each year as a word has picked me I have been careful to choose something that
would bring more happiness and joy, such as JOY, PASSION, BELIEVE, SHINE,
LAUGH, AND GRATEFUL.
Well this year I tiptoe toward my word with a bit a fear and trepidation.
No, I don't want to stop doing it, but do it better.

When I look at this photo I am reminded of two things.
One is how important the light is to me at this time of the year,
even if it is just a candle shining.  LIGHT was considered
because we all need light in our lives to push away the darkness.
But, light wasn't to be the word though I do believe it will sneak in there once in the while.
The second is to sit in silence, settle into the moments, anticipate
the tea, and breathe.
Sometimes life gets in the way and I forget this very important activity.
For 2016 I want to remember to BREATHE.
BREATHE will be my focus for 2016.

Have you chosen a word?
It is amazing the impact it can have on you.
A single word is so much easier to focus on than remembering a resolution.

That's a great word for the new year. I often tell someone who is overwhelmed that they need to remember to breathe. A good reminder for all of us. I do have a word for next year. It's a repeat and I struggled with that but it's SO needed for this year ahead. I did a Facebook 'thing' that could determine your word for next year. The first time it came out 'Loyalty'. I laughed and moved on. Another friend challenged friends to do it a day or two later. I decided to give it a whirl and see what happened. The second time my word came up 'change', which is more likely for the next year. However, I know that I have to go with the word that's been coming to me over the past weeks and months. I'll reveal it soon.

Breathe is a fine word -- one I should take to heart! I am considering "Listen" -- not just to people but to signs, to my body and to all around me. But we'll see.

I haven't done a word recently, Marilyn, but this post is a good reminder. I'm thinking of JOY but I'm actually leaning more toward SURRENDER.

I've done words in the past, but not for a couple of years. It's a good thing to focus on something for the year. I need to think about this more. Breathe is a great word. Happy New Year, Marilyn.

Marilyn, you have inspired me to choose a word this year. I'm still going to keep and refine a few of my resolutions for 2016, but my word is going to be AUTHENTIC. This word will keep my grounded with my values and beliefs along with helping me when decisions need to be made. Breathe is another solid word. One I need to use at work quite often.
Best wishes for a wonderful year,
Nora

Hi, Marilyn! Slowly emerging from jet lag fog and Christmas glow... Great to catch up with you here! I'm wondering where the old year went, and amazed we're turned to a new week, a new year... Looking forward to sharing another life-rich & creative year with you here. Wishing you & yours all the VERY best in 2016 and more... A sweet word you've chosen (or that's chosen you!) for the new year. I'm doing some journalling right now, so my word & plan , etc. are taking shape... ((HUGS))
